Experience Based Results

DGI has participated on over 200 projects; surveying over 3,800,000 metres with 99.6% incident free work days.  We have predominantly serviced the minerals exploration and mining industry as well as supporting oil and gas, hydrogeology, geotechnical and environmental projects.  These projects have ranged from several days to several years in duration with many spanning multiple stages in the development process to become mines.  From these experiences, we have learned that our clients face an increasing workload, with less time and resources.  They need workflow solutions, not just additional information. Answers providing understanding and confidence as well as cost and time savings are results that make a difference.

Reducing the time cycle

DGI reduces time cycles from acquisition of information to delivery of answers at each and every stage.  Since answers are provided sooner in a lightweight form, supported by a weight of statistical evidence, a direct impact to workflow and decision making follows.  When taken individually at each stage, these time savings are independently valuable; together they become significant returns on investment (ROI).

Physical rock properties are necessary to constrain models

DGI’s quantitative and statistically robust dataset is instrumental in constraining inversions for three dimensional modelling. “Physical properties cannot be divorced from geometry inversion. In general, the sensitivity of the data to the shape of a boundary is proportional to the property contrast; contacts associated with zero contrast will not move during geometry inversion. If knowledge of rock properties is sketchy, the inferred geometry will be correspondingly more uncertain. Characterization of the physical properties of the relevant geologic units is therefore crucial for geometry inversion as well as for property inversion.” Peter K. Fullagar, Glenn A. Televiewer Results

With the use of televiewers, DGI has successfully helped our customers by:
  • Identifying and orienting mineralized vein intersections;
  • Visually inspecting paste fill lines, well casings and screens;
  • Identifying or validating zones of groundwater flow;
  • Defining structural geology;
  • Conducting geotechnical investigations for civil engineering, hydroelectric and mining projects
